"McKee" Daguerreotype

The earliest and least familiar of the known photographs of Edgar Allan Poe is the so-called "McKee" daguerreotype, named for its last owner, Thomas J. McKee. The daguerreotype bears almost no resemblance to the later, more celebrated images of Poe, yet its authenticity seems beyond question. Read more about this image at the Edgar Allan Poe Society.
