It's a style. Some call it "goth", short for "gothic". But for me, it's not about a label. It's about seeing the duality in nature- the beauty in darkness. You can see this dualism everywhere- it's there in Beauty and the Beast, a fairy take written by Gabrielle-Suzanne Barbot de Villeneuve in 1740, almost 70 years before Poe was born.

"I actually love Edgar Allan Poe, well mostly his horror books, because they are filled with mystery...my favorite book from him is The Tell-Tale Heart, because it's like the man who killed the old man was low-key going through the details of why he wanted to get rid of the old man, if i can remember he was going crazy over the sound of a heartbeat...but anyways i love edgar allan poe b/c his stories are just so good, and they cant be matched with today's books/short stories"
